PREDICTION PREMIERSHIP RULES
============================
Amended for 2004-2005 season
The league competition is based on predicting the results of the 380
Premiership matches in a season.
NEW RULE
========
A player may fail to enter predictions no more than three times in a
season. If a player fails to predict a fourth time they will be
immediately eliminated from the competition with no refund of their
entry fee.
SCORING
4 points for predicting the correct score line. 2 points for
predicting the correct direction of the result i.e. if you put
down a 1-0 home win and the score is 2-1 then you pick up 2 points.
The same applies if you put down 1-1 and the score is 2-2 or 0-0.
Goal bonus points are scored in the event of the score line being
correctly predicted, a point for every goal scored in the match.
GOAL BONUS POINTS ARE ONLY SCORED IN THE EVENT OF A CORRECT SCORE
LINE BEING PREDICTED.
A prediction can only be made once and must be made when fixtures are received by
a player, even if it is already known that a match on that sheet has been postponed.
If a match is rescheduled the fixture will be offered to a player at that time.
In CUP COMPETITIONS, the following extra scoring systems are added
to decrease the possibility of ties. Please bare in mind that players
are drawn against each other in the traditional knockout format and
"away" players can not match any of their predictions with their home
opponent, therefore they have to make two choices of predictions for
each match on the prediction sheet.

1. Picking a goal scorer (Final Tie Only). Players will pick one
player in the match they think will score the most goals and they
pick up 1 point for every goal that player scores in that match.

2. In ALL final ties and FA Cup Semi Final ties, predicting the half
time score is also required with the scoring based on predicting the
final score.

3. In the event of a tie then the scores from the previous rounds are
taken into account (see 8). If one of the players did not play in the
previous round because of a bye, then that player is illuminated. If
there was no previous round then the predictions are carried through
to the first replays to be scheduled. If there are no replays then a
tie breaking rule to suit, will be decided in an emergency meeting by
the committee.

4. If, after the above precautions have failed and there is still
nothing to separate the players, then whoever is higher in the league,
at that time, goes through.

5. Extra-time counts. The score after 90 minutes counts as well as the score
after extra time either will be judged as a correct score line if attained by
a player.
Penalties after extra time do not count except in a tie break or replay when
the final score is 0-0. In the instance where time of the first goal has been
used as a tie break, then the first penalty will be counted as the first goal.

6. If a tie is postponed and not re-scheduled to be played within 5 days
of the original match date, then it will be declared void and no points
will be scored from it. It will be ignored on the published sheet. If all
matches are postponed, however, then this rule does not count.

7. If a tie is played and then re-staged because of  a breach of the
rules (Football rules not Prediction Premiership rules) then the score
of the original match counts, the re-staged match is void. If a match is
abandoned and has to be re-staged then point 6 comes in to play.

8. In Final Ties, the player with the most points from previous rounds
will have priority if both players make the same predictions. The
player with the least points from previous rounds will change their
predictions so as none match the other finalist.
Also the player with the points advantage will have 1 point added IN
THE EVENT OF A TIE.

9. In rounds prior to the Final Tie. If a player is drawn at home then
they have the priority in the event on duplication with their opponent.
Therefore away player must change the offending prediction. Therefore
away players are given a second choice on their cup prediction sheet.

10. In the accumulation of points during a competition (League and FA
Cups) the earliest round score will not be taken into account.

11. In cup competitions players must enter their own predictions. No proxy
predictions can be entered because a player at the bottom of the league
could ask a player at the top of the league to do their predictions for
them. This is not fare on an opponent that may be playing or trying to our
guess their genuine opponent.
If a player is found to have broken this rule then the offending player will
be disqualified.
Players in the league may enter predictions by proxy because another player
may effect their own league position by increasing another player's score.
The entrusting player only has themselves to blame if this back fires.

THE LEAGUE TABLE

League positioning is decided on this basis.
The order of importance in the league table is as follows...
A player will be higher up the league if he has more than his opposing
players':-
1. Points
2. Correct Score Lines
3. Correct Direction of Result
4. Goal Bonus Points

DEAD LINE
All weekly prediction sheets must be in by 8:00pm on the Thursday prior to the
weekend's session of Premiership matches unless a fixture has been brought forward at
short notice then the secretary will contact all players personally.

BLANKET PREDICTIONS
A player is not permitted to write down the same score line for every match on their
prediction sheet. Home or away. The maximum amount of duplicate predictions allowed
on a sheet is 70%. i.e. 7 out of 10 on a weekly sheet. This rule is there to encourage
players to make honest predictions not to play to percentages.

GROUP 2
Players can join mid season, up to and including round 29. Their starting score will be
calculated from everyone's average score in the S R G columns and a points total will
be calculated from that. These players will only be allowed to join cup competitions
that have not already started.

SIZE OF LEAGUE GROUPS
Group 1 should have a maximum of 20 players. Group 2 should have a maximum
of 24 players.

SUBSCRIPTIONS
All subscriptions must be paid in full, prior to the first match of
the season unless otherwise arranged with the committee.

QUERYING SCORES
It is an individual's player's responsibility to keep a check on their own scores
as mistakes can be made. If you spot a mistake, query it as soon as possible.

RETURNING OF TROPHIES
All trophies, except player of the month awards, must be returned by
the holder to the chairman by May 1. If a player fails to return a
trophy on time then a fine of 50p for every day they are overdue will
be accumulated. Or they may not be asked to renew their league entry
for the following season. This rule will be applied at the discretion
of the chairman and/or the committee.

HOLDING TROPHIES
Trophies can only be held for a year by players who have renewed
their subscription for the next season. If a player who has won a
trophy does not enter the league the following season then they must
either return the trophy by August 31 or not receive the trophy at
all.

DUPLICATION OF PREDICTIONS
Although there is a system installed to prevent duplication in cup
competitions, it is very possible that it can occur in the league by
accident.
It is not permitted for any player to deliberately copy another player's
predictions.
Ignorance of this rule can result in the offending player's predictions for that
round being declared void.

RESPONSIBILITY OF THIRD PARTIES
If a player uses a third party to deliver their predictions in the responsibility
remains with the player. So if the third party fails to deliver the predictions it
will be deemed that the player has failed to deliver them.
